First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study tested two drug-free methods—deep breathing and virtual reality—to help adults feel less pain and anxiety during a blood draw. 264 adults were randomly assigned to one of the two techniques or standard care. Results showed deep breathing worked better than VR for pain, and both helped with anxiety about the same. The goal is to offer simple, safe options to improve the experience of getting blood drawn.
