Summary
This study tested a brain implant that sends electrical pulses to a specific area in the brain to help people with severe depression that hasn't improved with other treatments. 46 adults with treatment-resistant depression took part. Half got the active stimulation and half got a sham (inactive) treatment to see if the device truly reduces depressive symptoms.
