Could a common diabetes pill ease anemia in MDS patients?

NCT ID NCT07516847

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether dapagliflozin, a drug used for diabetes, can improve anemia in people with lower-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). Anemia causes fatigue and often requires blood transfusions. About 37 adults will take the pill daily for 24 weeks to see if their hemoglobin levels rise and reduce the need for transfusions.
