Donor cells fight transplant-linked cancer in landmark trial

Summary
This study tested whether specially treated donor white blood cells could help treat a rare cancer (lymphoproliferative disease) that sometimes happens after an organ transplant. The cancer is linked to the Epstein-Barr virus. 50 transplant recipients took part. The goal was to see if adding these donor cells to standard care (reducing immune-suppressing drugs) improved tumor shrinkage and survival.
