Turmeric pill aims to ease harsh cancer treatment side effects

Summary
This study is testing whether a specially formulated turmeric extract (curcumin) can reduce severe stomach and bowel side effects in people receiving combined chemotherapy and radiation for rectal cancer. 72 patients will take the curcumin pill daily during their standard cancer treatment. Researchers will check if it lowers side effects like pain and diarrhea while also seeing if it helps the cancer treatment work better.
