NCT ID NCT06527625
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a 9-session group art program using Chinese calligraphy could reduce depressive symptoms and age-related self-stigma in older adults. 63 participants aged 60+ with mild depression risk were randomly assigned to the art program or usual care. The program aimed to help emotional awareness and expression through calligraphy.

- If it works, this could offer a low-cost, non-drug way to improve mood and reduce self-stigma in older adults.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, completed trial with only 63 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The program is not a treatment for clinical depression.
