Could a simple fluid test catch ovarian cancer earlier?
NCT ID NCT02109367
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study looked at whether fluid taken from the space behind the vagina (cul-de-sac) can help diagnose ovarian cancer. Researchers measured two tumor markers, CA-125 and HE4, in that fluid from 52 women about to have surgery for a suspicious ovarian mass. They also checked a urine sample for estrogen levels. The goal was to see if these markers could lead to a simpler, less risky diagnostic test for ovarian cancer.
