Blood test after liver surgery could personalize chemo for cancer patients

NCT ID NCT05062317

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study tests whether a blood test that looks for cancer DNA (ctDNA) after liver surgery can help doctors decide who needs more chemo. About 120 adults with colorectal cancer that spread to the liver will get standard chemo before surgery, then have their ctDNA checked after. Those with no detectable ctDNA may get less chemo, while those with ctDNA get stronger treatment. The goal is to see if this approach improves the chance of staying cancer-free for one year.
