First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study compared two treatments for persistent atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat): a procedure that freezes heart tissue (cryoablation) versus standard antiarrhythmic drugs. 196 adults with recurrent persistent AF were randomly assigned to one treatment. The goal was to see which approach better prevents episodes of irregular heart rhythms and major complications like stroke or heart attack.
