Sleep apnea treatment may keep heart rhythm in check
NCT ID NCT07358429
First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This study explores whether using a CPAP machine at night can reduce the chance of atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat) coming back in people who have both sleep apnea and a history of this heart condition. Researchers will follow 91 adults for one year, tracking heart rhythm with ECGs and Holter monitors. The goal is to see if consistent CPAP use helps control the heart condition without needing lifelong medication, though the study does not aim to cure either condition.
