New breathing device could speed up COPD recovery for veterans

Summary
This study tests whether a special breathing device can help Veterans with COPD improve their symptoms and exercise ability faster during pulmonary rehabilitation and keep those benefits longer. About 120 Veterans will be randomly assigned to use either the real device or a sham (fake) device. Researchers will track shortness of breath, daily steps, and physical function over one year.
