Could a simple ultrasound replace CT scans for kids with belly injuries?

NCT ID NCT04718441

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a special ultrasound with contrast dye can accurately find solid organ injuries in the belly of children aged 8 to 18. The 68 participants had already received a CT scan as standard care, and their ultrasound results were compared to the CT findings. The goal is to see if this safer, radiation-free method could be used instead of CT in the future.
