New ultrasound technique could reduce radiation in injured children

NCT ID NCT04718441

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 29 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a special ultrasound with contrast dye can accurately find solid organ injuries in the belly of children after trauma. 68 kids aged 8-18 who already had a CT scan showing an injury received both a regular and a contrast-enhanced ultrasound. The goal was to see if the contrast ultrasound results matched the CT scan, which is the standard but uses radiation.
