New water pill formula may ease bathroom urgency for heart patients
NCT ID NCT06206512
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tested whether a long-acting version of the water pill torsemide works better than the standard version for reducing urgent, frequent urination in people with chronic heart failure. Twenty-four adults aged 50 and older with heart failure and overactive bladder took both versions for four weeks each. The goal was to see if the extended-release form improves quality of life and reduces bathroom trips without increasing side effects like kidney injury or electrolyte loss.
