New study tests safer stitches after hysterectomy for cancer patients
NCT ID NCT07313839
First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 17 times
Summary
This study compares two types of stitches used to close the vaginal cuff after laparoscopic hysterectomy in people with gynecologic cancers. The goal is to see which method leads to fewer complications like infection, bleeding, or the wound reopening. About 310 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a double-layer self-locking suture or a traditional suture, and their recovery will be tracked for three months after surgery.
