Massive VA trial aims to find the safer blood thinner for Veterans' hearts
NCT ID NCT06953726
Summary
This large VA study will compare two widely used blood thinners, apixaban (Eliquis) and rivaroxaban (Xarelto), in 10,000 veterans with atrial fibrillation. The goal is to determine which medication is safer (causes less major bleeding) and at least as effective at preventing strokes and death. The study will follow participants for about 7 years using their electronic medical records to track outcomes.
