Tiny biopsy vs. big surgery: which diagnoses stomach cancer better?
NCT ID NCT04809025
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to diagnose stomach cancer: a small sample taken during an endoscopy (biopsy) versus a larger sample from surgery. Researchers want to see if the biopsy is just as good at identifying cancer type, grade, and key markers like HER-2 and MSI status. The goal is to improve diagnosis and reduce the need for surgery just to get a sample. The study involves 510 adults with stomach cancer who are already scheduled for surgery.
