New study aims to find best way to diagnose hidden cause of high blood pressure

NCT ID NCT07298954

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study compares three different ways of performing a blood test (adrenal vein sampling) to find the best method for diagnosing primary aldosteronism, a condition where the adrenal glands make too much of the hormone aldosterone, causing high blood pressure. About 456 adults aged 18-70 with this condition will be randomly assigned to one of the three test methods. The goal is to see which method leads to the best treatment outcomes after surgery.
