Summary
This study compared two antibiotics (ciprofloxacin and ceftriaxone) given through a vein to treat a serious belly infection called spontaneous bacterial peritonitis in people with liver cirrhosis. The infection is common and can be deadly. The study included 310 adults aged 25-70 with cirrhosis and this infection. The goal was to see which antibiotic worked better at lowering fever, easing belly pain, and reducing infection markers in the belly fluid after 48 hours.
