New combo device aims to keep obese patients breathing safely during gut exams
NCT ID NCT07175155
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This study tests whether a new device that combines a bite block, oxygen tube, and airway support can prevent dangerously low oxygen levels in severely obese patients during sedated endoscopy. About 410 adults with a BMI of 35 or higher will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care or the new combo device plus high-flow oxygen. The goal is to see if this approach reduces breathing problems during the procedure.
