Old drug, new goal: can a gout pill stop Post-Surgery heart flutters?

NCT ID NCT06798714

Summary

This study is testing if a drug called colchicine, combined with a small surgical opening in the heart's lining, can prevent a common irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation) after coronary bypass surgery. Researchers will compare 70 patients receiving this new approach to 70 patients getting standard care with common painkillers. The goal is to see which method is better at preventing this post-surgery complication during the hospital stay.
