Summary

This study tests whether colchicine, an anti-inflammatory drug, can prevent organ damage caused by inflammation after heart surgery. About 768 adults aged 50-80 having planned heart surgery will receive colchicine or a placebo. Researchers will monitor for complications like new atrial fibrillation, heart attack, lung injury, and inflammation markers.
