Experimental gel aims to protect hearing during implant surgery
NCT ID NCT06545175
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing whether a gel made from human umbilical cord cells is safe to apply inside the ear during cochlear implant surgery. The gel is meant to reduce trauma from the surgery itself, which could help preserve any remaining natural hearing and improve how well the implant works. Researchers will enroll 11 adults with profound hearing loss who are already scheduled to receive a cochlear implant.
