Summary

This study tests a communication program called COACH-Cog for older adults with both dementia and cancer. It includes a training video for doctors and a coaching session for patients and their care partners. The goal is to see if this helps everyone work together better when making cancer treatment decisions. About 300 people will take part.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
communication coaching session and clinician training video
What this could lead to
If it works, this could improve how doctors, patients, and families talk about cancer treatment options for people with dementia.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early pilot study, so results may not apply widely. The intervention is behavioral, not a drug, so benefits may be modest.
