Immune-Guided drug timing could cut CMV prevention after transplant

NCT ID NCT07569653

First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a personalized approach to prevent cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in adults who have received a stem cell transplant. Instead of giving the anti-CMV drug letermovir for a fixed 100 days, researchers will use a blood test to check when each patient's immune system has recovered enough to fight CMV on its own. The goal is to see if stopping the drug earlier is safe and effective, potentially reducing side effects and costs. About 120 participants in China will be randomly assigned to either the immune-guided or standard fixed-duration group.
