First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests a device called CLAAS that is implanted to close off a small pouch in the heart (the left atrial appendage) in people with atrial fibrillation. The goal is to reduce stroke risk and allow patients to stop taking long-term blood thinners. About 300 adults with AF and high stroke risk will be enrolled, and the procedure will be done under conscious sedation (awake but relaxed). The study will check if the device is safely placed and seals the pouch properly.
