First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 38 times

Summary

This study tests whether citicoline, a common supplement, can reduce inflammation in the brain and improve thinking skills in 56 teens and young adults (ages 16-22) who drink alcohol. Participants take either citicoline or a placebo pill for a period, and researchers measure immune markers, brain chemicals, and cognitive abilities. The goal is to see if this supplement can ease some of the harmful effects of alcohol on the developing brain.
