Chocolate balloon may improve leg artery treatment

NCT ID NCT07471087

First seen Mar 14, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special balloon called the Chocolate PTA balloon works better than a standard balloon to prepare narrowed or blocked leg arteries before using a drug-coated balloon. About 242 adults with peripheral artery disease will be randomly assigned to one of the two balloons. The goal is to see if the Chocolate balloon reduces the need for emergency stenting and keeps arteries open longer.
