Researchers seek safer way to help children breathe during operations

NCT ID NCT03901599

Summary

This study tested whether measuring the actual air reaching children's lungs (alveolar ventilation) could help doctors set safer breathing machine levels during surgery. Researchers studied 60 children under age 12 who needed general anesthesia. They wanted to see if this measurement could provide more consistent results than current methods for determining proper breathing support.
