New mammogram method may spot breast cancer earlier in women with nipple discharge

NCT ID NCT05056844

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study is testing whether a special mammogram called CESM (contrast enhanced spectral mammography) can better find the cause of abnormal nipple discharge and detect breast cancer compared to standard mammography. CESM uses an iodine dye injected into a vein to make tissues and blood vessels more visible. The study will enroll 66 women aged 25-85 who have abnormal nipple discharge. If CESM works well, it could help find breast cancers earlier and reduce the need for unnecessary biopsies.
