New mammogram technique could reduce unnecessary breast biopsies

NCT ID NCT05056844

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 04, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special type of mammogram called contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) can better find the cause of nipple discharge and detect breast cancer. CESM uses an injected dye to make tissues and blood vessels more visible. The goal is to see if CESM is more accurate than standard mammography, which could help avoid unnecessary biopsies. The study will enroll 66 women aged 25-85 who have nipple discharge.
