Ancient ritual tested as modern solution for addiction
NCT ID NCT07075081
Summary
This study is testing whether participating in a traditional Ojibwe ceremony called Gii'igoshimong can help reduce substance use and improve mental health. Researchers will enroll 300 American Indian adults who have used substances recently, with half participating in the ceremony immediately and half waiting six months. The study will measure substance use, mental health, and brain activity to see if cultural practices provide protection against addiction.
