Ancient ceremony tested as modern solution for addiction
NCT ID NCT07075081
Summary
This study is testing whether participating in a traditional Anishinaabe ceremony called Gii'igoshimong can help American Indian adults reduce substance use and improve mental health. Researchers will compare 300 participants who complete the ceremony now with those who wait, measuring substance use, depression, anxiety, and brain activity over six months. The goal is to understand how cultural practices might protect against substance use problems.
