New program aims to boost sleep apnea treatment in native elders to fight memory loss

NCT ID NCT06227572

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests a program that combines motivational interviewing with text messages to help Native American elders (age 50+) with sleep apnea use their breathing machine more regularly. Better use of the machine may improve sleep and lower the risk of memory problems. About 300 participants from three Northern Plains Reservations will be split into two groups: one gets the extra support, the other gets standard care.
