Old stroke risk data gets a modern makeover: new study tests Drug-Only approach
NCT ID NCT05300737
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 23 times
Summary
This study looks at whether today's best medications—like statins and newer blood thinners—can keep stroke risk low in people with a narrowed carotid artery who have already had a minor stroke or warning signs. About 114 participants are being followed for one year to see if the stroke rate stays under 5% with medication alone. The goal is to update old research from the 1990s that didn't include modern drugs.
