New imaging methods aim to predict stroke risk from carotid plaque

NCT ID NCT02748941

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study is testing several advanced imaging techniques to see if they can better predict which people with carotid artery narrowing are at risk for a stroke. Researchers will compare 45 people who have had a stroke with 105 who have not, all with at least 50% carotid stenosis. The goal is to find the best combination of imaging methods to identify unstable plaque that could cause a stroke.
