Could a tiny implant in your neck stop a second stroke?
NCT ID NCT05723926
First seen Apr 12, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tests if placing small filters in the carotid arteries (the main blood vessels in the neck) can catch blood clots before they reach the brain and cause a stroke. It involves 2,000 people with atrial fibrillation who have already had a stroke and are taking blood thinners. Half will get the implants plus standard medication, and half will get medication alone, to see if the implants reduce the risk of another stroke.
