Could a common supplement help a failing heart?
NCT ID NCT04908397
Summary
This small, early-stage study looked at whether carnitine, a nutrient found in food, could help the heart in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Researchers first checked what participants ate and their blood carnitine levels. Then, they gave some participants carnitine supplements to see if it raised their blood levels and if that led to any changes in heart function or walking ability.
