Pregnancy study seeks links between Mom's metabolism and placental problems

NCT ID NCT07565727

First seen May 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how a pregnant person's metabolism—specifically insulin resistance and fat burning—relates to the health of the placenta and the risk of complications like preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. Researchers will follow 50 pregnant women at high or moderate risk for preeclampsia, measuring blood sugar, fat burning, and body composition early and late in pregnancy. The goal is to better understand these connections, not to test a new treatment.
