Heart scans may predict survival in rare amyloid disease

NCT ID NCT04392960

First seen Apr 29, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study looked at 30 people newly diagnosed with cardiac AL amyloidosis, a rare disease where abnormal proteins damage the heart. Researchers used advanced MRI, echocardiogram, and PET scans to see if these imaging tools could predict survival and measure how well chemotherapy works. The goal was to improve understanding of the disease, not to test a new treatment.
