First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested a drug called carbidopa-levodopa, normally used for Parkinson's disease, in 20 people with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The goal was to see if the drug is safe and can improve vision and reduce fluid buildup in the retina. Participants had not received standard anti-VEGF injections before. The study was small and early-stage, so results are preliminary.
