Scientists test 'Living Drug' directly in brain to fight deadly cancers

NCT ID NCT04661384

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new type of treatment called CAR T-cell therapy for adults with aggressive brain cancers that have spread to the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Doctors take a patient's own immune cells, genetically modify them in a lab to recognize and attack cancer cells, and then infuse them directly into the brain fluid. The main goals are to see if this approach is safe and to look for early signs that it might help control these difficult-to-treat cancers.
