Cannabis pain study halted: what we know so far

NCT ID NCT05563948

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 37 times

Summary

This study looks at how using cannabis every day affects pain sensitivity, the risk of abuse, and natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body. About 100 regular cannabis users (ages 21-65) will stay in a hospital for 15 days and receive cannabis with different levels of THC and CBD. The goal is to understand if stopping cannabis suddenly makes pain worse and if the body gets used to its effects over time.
