New scanner could help surgeons spot cancer right after removal

NCT ID NCT06970275

First seen Jan 02, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a special PET-CT scanner can accurately detect cancer in tissue that has just been removed during surgery. Researchers will compare the scanner images with standard lab tests to see how well they match. About 850 adults with prostate, breast, head and neck, or other cancers will take part. The goal is to help surgeons make better decisions during cancer operations.
