Your walk may reveal if brain surgery will work

NCT ID NCT07323602

First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at whether analyzing how people with dystonia walk before deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery can predict how well the surgery will work. About 50 adults scheduled for DBS will wear small movement sensors while walking. Researchers will then compare walking patterns to improvements in movement and quality of life after surgery. The goal is to find a simple, non-invasive way to identify who will benefit most from DBS.
