First seen Mar 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tests whether a simple breathing exercise called cardiac coherence can help prevent chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in people who recently experienced a traumatic event. Researchers will enroll 44 adults with acute stress disorder and teach them the breathing technique. The goal is to see if this approach reduces the chance of developing long-term PTSD after 3 months.
