First seen Apr 30, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 7 times
Summary
This study tests whether a drug called butylphthalide can help control symptoms of multiple system atrophy (MSA), a rare brain disorder that affects movement and automatic body functions. About 150 adults aged 30 to 80 with early-stage MSA will take either the drug or a placebo for 6 months. Researchers will track symptom changes using a standard rating scale to see if the drug offers meaningful relief.
