New balloon treatment aims to prevent dialysis access failures

NCT ID NCT06639451

Summary

This study is testing a special balloon coated with a drug (paclitaxel) to see if it can keep dialysis access points (called arteriovenous fistulas or AVFs) from narrowing or closing. The goal is to help these vital access points stay open and functional for a longer time between treatments. Researchers are looking at how well it works and how safe it is for adults on stable hemodialysis.
