VA tests simple breathing treatment to help spinal injury patients breathe easier
NCT ID NCT05536076
Summary
This VA study is testing whether a simple, daily breathing exercise can help people with chronic spinal cord injury. The treatment involves breathing air with slightly elevated carbon dioxide for short periods to try to strengthen breathing muscles. Researchers want to see if this two-week program is practical for patients and if it can reduce the severity of sleep apnea and improve daytime breathing.
