First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study tested a breathing exercise called the active cycle breathing technique in 120 adults who had just had heart surgery. The exercise combines controlled breathing, deep breaths, and coughing to help clear the lungs and reduce pain. Researchers measured changes in breathing, pain levels, and fear of shortness of breath. The goal was to see if this simple technique could improve recovery and reduce complications after surgery.
